Decide where you want to hang your artwork before deciding how you will frame it. Professionally framed art has a strong support wire for hanging the piece. You may choose to use two rather than one hook for larger pieces.

Choosing the space. Estimate the finished size of the framed piece (allowing 4 inches on all four sides for matting) and measure the wall space. The piece should not take more than 40% of the wall space. It needs wall space to avoid looking crowded.

Before you hang. Hold the piece up on the wall and check it for location before putting the hook in your wall. Be sure the measured center of the wall is the visual center of the wall.

Simple hooks can be purchased at any home or builders supply store. Look for the number of pounds the hook will hold and buy for the appropriate weight of the framed artwork.
