Toni's perspective on her art...
"...My medium of choice for my stylized flat figures is acrylics. I like the versatility of the paint and its quick drying time. It enables me to paint quickly. The use of bright, bold contrasting colors with shades of umber, sienna, black, and taupe skin tones has become my signature style. My southern heritage of my early years going south to my grandparent's farm and my later years of collecting Black Memorabilia has had a very profound influence upon me and my work. I feel that my paintings show a celebration of African American life! It is my intent to evoke thought and to stimulate the emotions of my viewers..." |
