Mix Media Digital Fiber Arts Collagist/ Education Arts Collaborator
Liani Foster is a native Washingtonian, his primary medium as a professional artist is mixed media digital fiber collage artist. As a digital collagist , he creates artwork that uses traditional mix media painting and photography techniques. He scans, digitally juxtaposes and prints his designs/artwork on a variety of textiles such as silk, which may be transferred to other substrates.
He has worked as an educational arts collaborator in the private sector and the District of Columbia Public Schools since 1991. My projects emphasize the Reggio Emilia Approach where the child is the director and the artist/collaborator is the facilitator. His students are also exposed to digital technology, professional artist materials, and take short trips to observe and collect natural and man made objects.
As a transitional artist, Liani lives to explore the possibilities of line, space, form, texture and color. His art mediums always reflect cutting edge techniques and vision. He has given a new flair to the traditional family portrait. Liani uses his vast knowledge of the digital technology to create unique portraits that are also wall hangings.
Liani has contributed to numerous exhibitions, his most recent include a solo show at the Parish Gallery in 2005 and the Common Bond IX juried exhibit in 2004.When asked about his direction Liani says: "My quest is not to embrace change but to create it." |
